Kitchen & Dining Room Done!
Now the workers can prepare meals even when it rains, which they couldn't do before. We also purchased tables and chairs so our seniors can sit down together inside to eat. They had to sit outside on the cement stoop during nice weather and on the edge of their beds by themselves in bad weather prior to the new dining room.
We have also supplied our seniors with plates, bowls, cups and silverware so now they do not have to eat with a spoon, or their hands out of a bowl. With the completion of the kitchen we can now take advantage of providing more variety in the diet of our seniors. Before we could only serve porridge or beans/rice, meals that could be prepared in one pot over one charcoal burner and eaten out of one bowl. The parish has a small subsistence farm so we can add fruits, vegetables and chicken to the meals. The quality of life for the seniors has taken a huge leap forward! Thanks to all of you for making that happen.
Now our task is to concentrate on improving the food security of the seniors by contributing sufficient funds to continue to purchase the beans and rice and other foods they need to satisfy not only our seniors hunger, but their need for variety and balanced nutrition.
God Bless Our Generous Contributors!
